Jacopo Spirei, winner of the Audience Award in Salzburg (2012/2013), has directed productions for international theatres and festivals, including the Festival Verdi in Parma, Gran Teatre del Liceu, San Francisco Opera, Teatro San Carlo in Naples, Donizetti Festival, Wexford Festival Opera, Theater an der Wien, Göteborg Opera, and Dortmund. He teaches Opera Directing at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts and collaborated extensively with Graham Vick on productions for Glyndebourne, Maggio Musicale, Birmingham Opera, Houston, Tokyo, and Lisbon. Trained in Bologna and New York, he is actively involved in mentoring young artists through institutions such as the Royal Danish Opera and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
